Disclosure Secret of Zoro's Lineage in One Piece
Recently, the manga author of One Piece revealed detailed information about the Zoro's Lineage . Not surprisingly, the swordsman of the Straw Hat crew is connected to the Shimotsuki and Wano families! Let's find out more about this.
Who is Zoro?
Zoro is one of the main characters in the manga One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda. His full name is Roronoa Zoro, and he is a member of the Straw Hat pirate crew, led by the Four Emperors, Luffy. Zoro is a swordsman of the Three-Sword Style, using three swords simultaneously in combat against enemies. Within the crew, Zoro is one of the most powerful fighters.
Regarding Zoro's family, it remains the most mysterious among the Straw Hat crew members. We hardly know anything about his parents. Although Zoro has many connections to Wano, there has been no clear explanation after that story arc. Thus, up to now, One Piece fans still know nothing about Zoro's parents and family.

Author Oda reveals the truth about Zoro's family
For those who don't know, SBS is a column where author Oda answers readers' questions. His answers often reveal various details about the manga that are not included in the magazine, making One Piece fans eager to learn more.
In the SBS section of One Piece Volume 105, Eiichiro Oda stated that he has received many questions about Zoro's lineage. However, he mentioned that he would not disclose such information in the main plot. Therefore, the following is a summary dedicated to the fans, along with the Kuina family lineage.
55 years ago, Shimotsuki Kouzaburou forged the swords Enma and Wadou Ichimonji. He presented the Enma sword to Oden when he was just 4 years old.
After giving the gifts, Kouzaburou, along with 25 others from Wano, set sail. This group included carpenter Minatomo and Shimotsuki Furiko - the older sister of Shimotsuki Ushimaru. If you remember, Ushimaru is a descendant of Shimotsuki Ryuma, the legendary swordsman of Wano.
Three years later (52 years before the main story timeline), the group settled in a village in East Blue and helped the villagers repel bandits. Ten members of the group (including Kouzaburou and Furiko) decided to stay in the village, establishing the Shimotsuki village.
Kouzaburou married a young woman from the village and gave birth to Shimotsuki Koushirou (Zoro's sensei). Koushirou later married someone else and had a daughter named Kuina. The Wadou Ichimonji sword was passed down to her and was eventually handed over to Zoro.
Shimotsuki Furiko married a swordsman from the village named Roronoa Pinzoro. They had a son named Roronoa Arashi. Arashi married a thief's daughter named Tella, and they had a son named Zoro. Unfortunately, Arashi died in a battle with pirates, and Tella passed away due to illness, so they won't appear in the manga.

In summary, Zoro is a distant descendant of the swordsman Ryuma and a relative of Ushimaru. He also has a distant (very distant) family connection to Kuina.
